Acts 13
| Be it known unto you
therefore, men and brethren, that through this
man is preached unto you the forgiveness of
sins: |
| And by him all that
believe are justified from all things, from
which ye could not be justified by the law of
Moses. |
| Beware therefore, lest
that come upon you, which is spoken of in the
prophets; |
| Behold, ye despisers, and
wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your
days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe,
though a man declare it unto you. |
Acts 13:38-41 |
Acts 2
| But Peter, standing up with
the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto
them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at
Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken
to my words: |
| For these are not drunken,
as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour
of the day. |
| But this is that which was
spoken by the prophet Joel; |
| And it shall come to pass
in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of
my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your
daughters shall prophesy, and your young men
shall see visions, and your old men shall dream
dreams: |
| And on my servants and on
my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of
my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: |
| And I will show wonders in
heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath;
blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: |
| The sun shall be turned
into darkness, and the moon into blood, before
that great and notable day of the Lord come: |
| And it shall come to pass,
that whosoever shall call on the name of the
Lord shall be saved. |
| Ye men of Israel, hear
these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved
of God among you by miracles and wonders and
signs, which God did by him in the midst of you,
as ye yourselves also know: |
| Him, being delivered by the
determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye
have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified
and slain: |
| Whom God hath raised up,
having loosed the pains of death: because it was
not possible that he should be holden of it. |
| For David speaketh
concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before
my face, for he is on my right hand, that I
should not be moved: |
| Therefore did my heart
rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also
my flesh shall rest in hope: |
| Because thou wilt not leave
my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine
Holy One to see corruption. |
| Thou hast made known to me
the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy
with thy countenance. |
| Men and brethren, let me
freely speak unto you of the patriarch David,
that he is both dead and buried, and his
sepulchre is with us unto this day. |
| Therefore being a prophet,
and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to
him, that of the fruit of his loins, according
to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on
his throne; |
| He seeing this before spake
of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was
not left in hell, neither his flesh did see
corruption. |
| This Jesus hath God raised
up, whereof we all are witnesses. |
| Therefore being by the
right hand of God exalted, and having received
of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he
hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. |
| For David is not ascended
into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord
said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, |
| Until I make thy foes thy
footstool. |
| Therefore let all the house
of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made
that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both
Lord and Christ. |
Acts 2:14-36 |
Galatians 5
| Stand fast therefore in the
liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and
be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. |
| Behold, I Paul say unto
you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall
profit you nothing. |
| For I testify again to
every man that is circumcised, that he is a
debtor to do the whole law. |
| Christ is become of no
effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified
by the law; ye are fallen from grace. |
| For we through the Spirit
wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. |
| For in Jesus Christ neither
circumcision availeth any thing, nor
uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. |
| Ye did run well; who did
hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? |
| This persuasion cometh not
of him that calleth you. |
| A little leaven leaveneth
the whole lump. |
| I have confidence in you
through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise
minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his
judgment, whosoever he be. |
| And I, brethren, if I yet
preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer
persecution? then is the offence of the cross
ceased. |
| I would they were even cut
off which trouble you. |
| For, brethren, ye have been
called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an
occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one
another. |
| For all the law is
fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt
love thy neighbour as thyself. |
| But if ye bite and devour
one another, take heed that ye be not consumed
one of another. |
| This I say then, Walk in
the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of
the flesh. |
| For the flesh lusteth
against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the
flesh: and these are contrary the one to the
other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye
would. |
| But if ye be led of the
Spirit, ye are not under the law. |
| Now the works of the flesh
are manifest, which are these; Adultery,
fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, |
| Idolatry, witchcraft,
hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife,
seditions, heresies, |
| Envyings, murders,
drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the
which I tell you before, as I have also told you
in time past, that they which do such things
shall not inherit the kingdom of God. |
| But the fruit of the Spirit
is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness,
goodness, faith, |
| Meekness, temperance:
against such there is no law. |
| And they that are Christ's
have crucified the flesh with the affections and
lusts. |
| If we live in the Spirit,
let us also walk in the Spirit. |
| Let us not be desirous of
vain glory, provoking one another, envying one
another. |
Galatians 5 |
Romans 5
| Therefore being justified
by faith, we have peace with God through our
Lord Jesus Christ: |
| By whom also we have access
by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and
rejoice in hope of the glory of God. |
| And not only so, but we
glory in tribulations also: knowing that
tribulation worketh patience; |
| And patience, experience;
and experience, hope: |
| And hope maketh not
ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad
in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given
unto us. |
| For when we were yet
without strength, in due time Christ died for
the ungodly. |
| For scarcely for a
righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for
a good man some would even dare to die. |
| But God commendeth his love
toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners,
Christ died for us. |
| Much more then, being now
justified by his blood, we shall be saved from
wrath through him. |
| For if, when we were
enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death
of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we
shall be saved by his life. |
| And not only so, but we
also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
by whom we have now received the atonement. |
| Wherefore, as by one man
sin entered into the world, and death by sin;
and so death passed upon all men, for that all
have sinned: |
| (For until the law sin was
in the world: but sin is not imputed when there
is no law. |
| Nevertheless death reigned
from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not
sinned after the similitude of Adam's
transgression, who is the figure of him that was
to come. |
| But not as the offence, so
also is the free gift. For if through the
offence of one many be dead, much more the grace
of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one
man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. |
| And not as it was by one
that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment
was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is
of many offences unto justification. |
| For if by one man's offence
death reigned by one; much more they which
receive abundance of grace and of the gift of
righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus
Christ.) |
| Therefore as by the offence
of one judgment came upon all men to
condemnation; even so by the righteousness of
one the free gift came upon all men unto
justification of life. |
| For as by one man's
disobedience many were made sinners, so by the
obedience of one shall many be made righteous. |
| Moreover the law entered,
that the offence might abound. But where sin
abounded, grace did much more abound: |
| That as sin hath reigned
unto death, even so might grace reign through
righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ
our Lord. |
Romans 5 |
Romans 6
| What shall we say then?
Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? |
| God forbid. How shall we,
that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? |
| Know ye not, that so many
of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were
baptized into his death? |
| Therefore we are buried
with him by baptism into death: that like as
Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory
of the Father, even so we also should walk in
newness of life. |
| For if we have been planted
together in the likeness of his death, we shall
be also in the likeness of his resurrection: |
| Knowing this, that our old
man is crucified with him, that the body of sin
might be destroyed, that henceforth we should
not serve sin. |
| For he that is dead is
freed from sin. |
| Now if we be dead with
Christ, we believe that we shall also live with
him: |
| Knowing that Christ being
raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath
no more dominion over him. |
| For in that he died, he
died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he
liveth unto God. |
| Likewise reckon ye also
yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive
unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. |
| Let not sin therefore reign
in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in
the lusts thereof. |
| Neither yield ye your
members as instruments of unrighteousness unto
sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those
that are alive from the dead, and your members
as instruments of righteousness unto God. |
| For sin shall not have
dominion over you: for ye are not under the law,
but under grace. |
| What then? shall we sin,
because we are not under the law, but under
grace? God forbid. |
| Know ye not, that to whom
ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his
servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin
unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? |
| But God be thanked, that ye
were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed
from the heart that form of doctrine which was
delivered you. |
| Being then made free from
sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. |
| I speak after the manner of
men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for
as ye have yielded your members servants to
uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even
so now yield your members servants to
righteousness unto holiness. |
| For when ye were the
servants of sin, ye were free from
righteousness. |
| What fruit had ye then in
those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the
end of those things is death. |
| But now being made free
from sin, and become servants to God, ye have
your fruit unto holiness, and the end
everlasting life. |
| For the wages of sin is
death; but the gift of God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ our Lord. |
Romans 6 |
Ephesians 2
| And you hath he quickened,
who were dead in trespasses and sins: |
| Wherein in time past ye
walked according to the course of this world,
according to the prince of the power of the air,
the spirit that now worketh in the children of
disobedience: |
| Among whom also we all had
our conversation in times past in the lusts of
our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh
and of the mind; and were by nature the children
of wrath, even as others. |
| But God, who is rich in
mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, |
| Even when we were dead in
sins, hath quickened us together with Christ,
(by grace ye are saved;) |
| And hath raised us up
together, and made us sit together in heavenly
places in Christ Jesus: |
| That in the ages to come he
might show the exceeding riches of his grace in
his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. |
| For by grace are ye saved
through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is
the gift of God: |
| Not of works, lest any man
should boast. |
| For we are his workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which
God hath before ordained that we should walk in
them. |
| Wherefore remember, that ye
being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who
are called Uncircumcision by that which is
called the Circumcision in the flesh made by
hands; |
| That at that time ye were
without Christ, being aliens from the
commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the
covenants of promise, having no hope, and
without God in the world: |
| But now in Christ Jesus ye
who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the
blood of Christ. |
| For he is our peace, who
hath made both one, and hath broken down the
middle wall of partition between us; |
| Having abolished in his
flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments
contained in ordinances; for to make in himself
of twain one new man, so making peace; |
| And that he might reconcile
both unto God in one body by the cross, having
slain the enmity thereby: |
| And came and preached peace
to you which were afar off, and to them that
were nigh. |
| For through him we both
have access by one Spirit unto the Father. |
| Now therefore ye are no
more strangers and foreigners, but
fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the
household of God; |
| And are built upon the
foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus
Christ himself being the chief corner stone; |
| In whom all the building
fitly framed together groweth unto an holy
temple in the Lord: |
| In whom ye also are builded
together for an habitation of God through the
Spirit. |
Ephesians 2 |
