Songs of Degrees, Part 2
Be Not Moved
Songs of Degrees: This is a sermon
series about Psalms 120 through 134. The Songs of Degrees, or the
Songs of Ascents, are meant to teach us about our upward journey
toward what God wills for His church. There are 15 of these songs
and there were 1,500 years between the ministry of Moses and the
earthly ministry of Jesus Christ. When God gave Moses the plan for
the Tabernacle, it was the beginning of His plan to restore man, to
rescue man. This plan, we know, was fulfilled by the death,
resurrection, and ascension of our Lord and Savior.
God allows trials in
our lives because He knows how valuable it is to us to find out that
He can and does bring us through them. The believer who waits upon
God and allows God to bring him through a storm will not be blown to
and fro by trials and tribulations, but will be anchored and secured
in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 121
| A Song of degrees. I will
lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence
cometh my help. |
| My help cometh from the
LORD, which made heaven and earth. |
| He will not suffer thy foot
to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not
slumber. |
| Behold, he that keepeth
Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. |
| The LORD is thy keeper: the
LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. |
| The sun shall not smite
thee by day, nor the moon by night. |
| The LORD shall preserve
thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. |
| The LORD shall preserve thy
going out and thy coming in from this time
forth, and even for evermore. |
Psalm 121 |
Acts 20
| And from Miletus he sent to
Ephesus, and called the elders of the church. |
| And when they were come to
him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first
day that I came into Asia, after what manner I
have been with you at all seasons, |
| Serving the Lord with all
humility of mind, and with many tears, and
temptations, which befell me by the lying in
wait of the Jews: |
| And how I kept back nothing
that was profitable unto you, but have showed
you, and have taught you publicly, and from
house to house, |
| Testifying both to the
Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward
God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. |
| And now, behold, I go bound
in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the
things that shall befall me there: |
| Save that the Holy Ghost
witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and
afflictions abide me. |
| But none of these things
move me, neither count I my life dear unto
myself, so that I might finish my course with
joy, and the ministry, which I have received of
the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the
grace of God. |
| And now, behold, I know
that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching
the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more. |
| Wherefore I take you to
record this day, that I am pure from the blood
of all men. |
| For I have not shunned to
declare unto you all the counsel of God. |
| Take heed therefore unto
yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which
the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed
the church of God, which he hath purchased with
his own blood. |
| For I know this, that after
my departing shall grievous wolves enter in
among you, not sparing the flock. |
| Also of your own selves
shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to
draw away disciples after them. |
| Therefore watch, and
remember, that by the space of three years I
ceased not to warn every one night and day with
tears. |
| And now, brethren, I
commend you to God, and to the word of his
grace, which is able to build you up, and to
give you an inheritance among all them which are
sanctified. |
| I have coveted no man's
silver, or gold, or apparel. |
| Yea, ye yourselves know,
that these hands have ministered unto my
necessities, and to them that were with me. |
| I have showed you all
things, how that so labouring ye ought to
support the weak, and to remember the words of
the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed
to give than to receive. |
| And when he had thus
spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them
all. |

the sons of Korah, A Song upon Alamoth. God is
our refuge and strength, a very present help in
trouble. |

though the earth be removed, and though the
mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; |

roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake
with the swelling thereof. Selah. |

streams whereof shall make glad the city of God,
the holy place of the tabernacles of the most
High. |

the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the
earth. |

unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow,
and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the
chariot in the fire. |
| Be still, and know that I
am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I
will be exalted in the earth. |
| The LORD of hosts is with
us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. |
