Hebrews 3
| Wherefore (as the Holy
Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, |
| Harden not your hearts, as
in the provocation, in the day of temptation in
the wilderness: |
| When your fathers tempted
me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. |
| Wherefore I was grieved
with that generation, and said, They do alway
err in their heart; and they have not known my
ways. |
| So I sware in my wrath,
They shall not enter into my rest.) |
| Take heed, brethren, lest
there be in any of you an evil heart of
unbelief, in departing from the living God. |
| But exhort one another
daily, while it is called To day; lest any of
you be hardened through the deceitfulness of
sin. |
| For we are made partakers
of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our
confidence stedfast unto the end; |
| While it is said, To day
if ye will hear his voice, harden not your
hearts, as in the provocation. |
| For some, when they had
heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came
out of Egypt by Moses. |
| But with whom was he
grieved forty years? was it not with them that
had sinned, whose carcases fell in the
wilderness? |
| And to whom sware he that
they should not enter into his rest, but to them
that believed not? |
| So we see that they could
not enter in because of unbelief. |
Hebrews 3:7-19 |
2 Chronicles 36
| Zedekiah was one and twenty
years old when he began to reign, and reigned
eleven years in Jerusalem. |
| And he did that which was
evil in the sight of the LORD his God, and
humbled not himself before Jeremiah the prophet
speaking from the mouth of the LORD. |
| And he also rebelled
against king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him
swear by God: but he stiffened his neck, and
hardened his heart from turning unto the LORD
God of Israel. |
| Moreover all the chief of
the priests, and the people, transgressed very
much after all the abominations of the heathen;
and polluted the house of the LORD which he had
hallowed in Jerusalem. |
| And the LORD God of their
fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising
up betimes, and sending; because he had
compassion on his people, and on his dwelling
place: |
| But they mocked the
messengers of God, and despised his words, and
misused his prophets, until the wrath of the
LORD arose against his people, till there was no
remedy. |
| Therefore he brought upon
them the king of the Chaldees, who slew their
young men with the sword in the house of their
sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man
or maiden, old man, or him that stooped for age:
he gave them all into his hand. |
| And all the vessels of the
house of God, great and small, and the treasures
of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of
the king, and of his princes; all these he
brought to Babylon. |
| And they burnt the house of
God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and
burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and
destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof. |
| And them that had escaped
from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where
they were servants to him and his sons until the
reign of the kingdom of Persia: |
| To fulfil the word of the
LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land
had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay
desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore
and ten years. |
| Now in the first year of
Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD
spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah might be
accomplished, the LORD stirred up the spirit of
Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a
proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put
it also in writing, saying, |
| Thus saith Cyrus king of
Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath the
LORD God of heaven given me; and he hath charged
me to build him an house in Jerusalem, which is
in Judah. Who is there among you of all his
people? The LORD his God be with him, and let
him go up. |

Hebrews 4
| Let us therefore fear,
lest, a promise being left us of entering into
his rest, any of you should seem to come short
of it. |
| For unto us was the gospel
preached, as well as unto them: but the word
preached did not profit them, not being mixed
with faith in them that heard it. |
| For we which have believed
do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn
in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest:
although the works were finished from the
foundation of the world. |
Hebrews 4:1-3 |
Exodus 31
| Speak thou also unto the
children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths
ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and
you throughout your generations; that ye may
know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you. |
| Ye shall keep the sabbath
therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one
that defileth it shall surely be put to death:
for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul
shall be cut off from among his people. |
| Six days may work be done;
but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy
to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the
sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. |
| Wherefore the children of
Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the
sabbath throughout their generations, for a
perpetual covenant. |
| It is a sign between me
and the children of Israel for ever: for in six
days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the
seventh day he rested, and was refreshed. |

Matthew 25
| Then shall the kingdom of
heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their
lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. |
| And five of them were wise,
and five were foolish. |
| They that were foolish took
their lamps, and took no oil with them: |
| But the wise took oil in their
vessels with their lamps. |
| While the bridegroom tarried,
they all slumbered and slept. |
| And at midnight there was a
cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out
to meet him. |
| Then all those virgins arose,
and trimmed their lamps. |
| And the foolish said unto the
wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone
out. |
| But the wise answered, saying,
Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but
go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for
yourselves. |
| And while they went to buy,
the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went
in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. |
| Afterward came also the other
virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. |
| But he answered and said,
Verily I say unto you, I know you not. |
| Watch therefore, for ye know
neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man
cometh. |
